Karl-Rainer
Blumenthal is an MFA candidate at Temple University studying Film &
Media Arts. In 2006, he completed his undergraduate thesis, Of Gods and
Grizzlies: The Non-Aesthetic of Nature and the New Kinship of Werner Herzog
and Caspar David Friedrich, and earned his bachelors degree in History
of Art from Haverford College.
As a student and later Digital Archivist at Haverford, Karl began
making short films which experiment with concepts of history,
historiography and narratization across digital media. A native of Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, Karl continues to work as a freelance video editor for local
musical acts and as a consultant for Progressive Strategies' OpenLeft.com.
